With the efforts of the Japan Ikebana Arts Foundation, the 6th of June has officially registered and recognised as "Ikebana Day"with the Japan Anniversary Association since 2020.
Since ancient times in Japan, it has been said that the best day to start practicing ikebana is on the 6th day of the 6th month at the age of 6, in order to pray for the progress of the art.
In recent years, many schools and regions hold ikebana classes and exhibitions around the 6th of June. Through the celebration of Ikebana Day on the 6th of June, people will not only learn the techniques of ikebana but also broaden their knowledge of the history of ikebana, and enrich their humanity by feeling the preciousness and power of life through direct contact with flowers.
